“Zenith”

COMPOSITION:

Orchestral Music

  • NOTES:
The idea behind “Zenith” was to create a powerful and exciting orchestral piece. The title “Zenith” means highest point or peak, which is why I chose it for my final composition, since I think I have made a lot of progress over the last two years of taking advanced music, making it a fitting title for this piece. I wanted this piece to sound energetic, thrilling, and emotional while still feeling controlled.

The composition is an upbeat orchestral piece which I created using GarageBand. I used strong melodies, many layers, and repeating patterns to make it sound rich and exciting. At the same time, I introduced new elements throughout the piece so that it would continue to develop and not become boring or repetitive.

The structure of the composition is ABA form. The section A contains the main melody and repeating rhythmic patterns that give the piece direction and energy. The B section introduces a different musical idea and creates contrast to keep the listener interested. After this, the A section comes back with familiar themes and a strong full sound. Throughout the composition I used repeating loops to create unity and balance, while adding new layers and transitions so it wouldn’t sound repetitive or chaotic.

I created “Zenith” in GarageBand using digital instruments and layered sounds. I experimented with different harmonies, rythms, and melodies to create a cinematic and exciting atmosphere. During the process, I added mayn layers such as strings, percussion, and other orchestral components to make the composition sound full and rich. I also worked carefully on the transitions between each section, so that the music develops well and stays interesting.

One challange that I faced was making the music sound full and thrilling without making it chaotic or overwhelming. Because the composition has many layers and strong musical themes, it was important to me to balance the sounds carefully. I overcame this by using repeating patterns, smooth transitions, and a clear structure.

I am very proud of this composition because I think it is my best composition to date and it clearly shows how much I have improved over the last two years in advanced music. I think this piece achieves the goals I set for myself because it sounds emotional, exciting, and powerful while still feeling controlled and balanced. I wanted my last composition to be something that connects me with my family. So I tried creating a piece that I could see my grandfather conduct himself, which I think I successfully did 🙂
